Biodiversity

Please see the Guidance download on the pane to the right for the principles followed by this Parish Council. Additionally, for your convenience, the Natural Environment and Rural Communities Act 2006 is also appended. The Parish Council is bound by both law and guidance within these documents as to their approach to biodiversity. Reference to them give a clear steer in this regard.

The East Riding of Yorkshire County Council (ERYCC) has a Bio-Diversity Action Plan that you may find of interest. There is a link to it in the right hand pane. It is currently in draft form and will be updated on this site as it is altered. Reading it and relating it to your immediate environment gives an excellent interpretation of the NERC 2006 Act as it affects us all.

This Parish Council is a member of the ERYCC Bio-Diversity Partnership, has membership of The Open Spaces Society represented on the Council, and has considerable background knowledge on specific issues such as Commons and drainage. You are very welcome to contact your Council if you need assistance with any of these.

A really interesting link to the DEFRA website on the pane to the right will take you through to the Commons Act 2006 itself, as well as interpretation of the Act and its' implementation.
